More than 40 million Americans have filed for unemployment since the coronavirus (COVD-19) pandemic began. Many of these individuals and families will not be able to afford to buy warm coats.
Cold weather forces the body to work harder, putting stress on the heart to ensure the body stays warm. Children and at-risk adults are unable to regulate their body temperatures and can quickly develop hypothermia without protection from the cold.
